Federation Square

That city certainly has character.
You'll find every culture in this town. Fast-paced but still friendly and laid-back, fancy and an up-town feeling in some parts like St. Kilda but almost shabby and run-down on the other hand.
Little shops, stores and boutiques next to cafes and small restaurants.
Prahan, the Queen Victoria Markets or just any little fruit and veggie market has something special about it. Walking through the city you get a bit of NYC meets dreamy seaside town. New building next to a witchy house, huge retail store next to a minor flea-market sort of shop.
Lots of street artists, kids, aborigines or graffiti sprayers. UNIQUE FEELING!
Federation Square is all about entertainment, getting together and art and culture. Fancy art gallery, spacey looking next to a good old fashion bonfire place.
Go down to the St. Kilda pier, meet the wild penguins, go for a stroll at Acland Street and check out all the "hippie" stores along the way. Almost a bit like Byron Bay feeling...almost!
Melbourne's nightlife offers everything you can imagine. Start out in little authentic pubs of all kinds and end up in an enormous night club in the city or Chapel/Fitzroy Street.
Melbourne certainly grows on you very fast, easy to fall in love with!
